Provided by AGPAn official in Fez informed a news agency that “The number of victims in the city due to the collapse of a residential building has risen to 15 dead and five injured," confirming the updated casualty figures. The same official noted that the five-story apartment block located in the Jnan Jroudi area of the Ain Naqbi district had entirely come down.
According to a correspondent, emergency teams have now wrapped up rescue efforts after the sudden structural failure, which sparked fear and chaos among residents living in nearby buildings.
In response to the incident, authorities ordered the evacuation of four neighboring buildings and initiated an investigation to uncover the reasons behind the collapse. At this stage, the cause remains unknown, and officials have not released any further statements.
Earlier on Thursday, the state-run broadcaster Channel 2 reported that the death toll had already reached 11, indicating the number of victims has steadily risen as recovery operations progressed.
